Creating the workforce of the future
As the economic turmoil of recent years has proven, the world is an extremely dynamic place—and the skills needed for success are equally dynamic.
Ongoing training is critical and there are a number of local resources that can help the Greater Lansing area maintain our position in the global workforce.
Capital Area Michigan Works!
Recognized nationally as the largest and most progressive workforce development association in the country, Michigan Works! offers assistance to both employers and job seekers. Operated throughout the state of Michigan, this program has a local focus and offers training at each location designed to meet the needs of the area workforce.
Economic Development Job Training Program
Administered by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, this program is available to companies who meet at least two of the following requirements:
- Demonstrate a need for high-skill training
- Invest in Michigan through the purchase of equipment/property
- Create and/or retain high-wage/high-skill jobs
- Require training to compete for 21st century industries such as:
- Advanced manufacturing or materials
- Life sciences
- Technology
- Homeland security and/or defense
- Alternative energy
Lansing Community College (LCC)
A leader in education and training for over 40 years, LCC offers a wide variety of on-campus classes and can also create customized programs to meet the specific training and educational needs of local businesses. These classes can be delivered at LCC, on site or online.
LCC’s Business and Community Institute offers business-focused courses, programs and seminars that can help your business meet employees’ professional development and education needs. A variety of credit, non-credit and continuing education unit (CEU) options are available.
MSU Executive Development Training Programs
Run through the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University Noncredit programs help skill-intensive organizations develop strategic leadership skills Both open-enrollment and customized programs available
