- Accident Fund Insurance Company of America is one of the cornerstones in Lansing’s thriving insurance sector and one of the nation’s leading providers of workers’ compensation coverage. Accident Fund recently invested $182 million to renovate a historic downtown Lansing power plant into the company’s new world headquarters.
- Neogen Corporation is not only one of Forbes’ 200 Best Small Companies in America, it also pioneers scientific innovation in testing products that ensure a safe food supply from farm to table.
- Draths Corporation is a next-generation chemical company leading the transformation to bio-based materials in everyday products. It recently invested $7 million to relocate its headquarters, research and development, and pilot plant facilities from Minnesota to Greater Lansing.
- Emergent BioSolutions takes biohazard safety to a global scale. This homegrown business recently invested in a $107 million new facility to develop the new BioThrax anthrax vaccine.
- IBM, which leads the world in patents (almost 5,000 in 2009), launched its new Global Delivery Center with its hundreds of new jobs in Greater Lansing based on the region’s supply chain management and engineering resources.
- Liquid Web is not only an Inc. Fastest Growing Company award-winner year after year, it has also recently rolled out proprietary Smart Server technology that blends the best of managed dedicated server hosting with the flexibility of cloud computing.
- Two Men and a Truck ignited a global revolution in moving. This Inc. 100 success story started as a family business in Lansing, growing to 32 states, Ireland and Canada.
- General Motors helped build Lansing. Now GM is back, investing $227 million in two of the world’s most advanced assembly facilities and bringing 1,700 new jobs to the region. The Delta and Grand River plants produce hot crossover vehicles and Cadillac’s sporty new lineup.
- Peckham, Inc. is one of the largest vocational community rehabilitation programs in the nation, providing job training and competitive employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.
- Astraeus & Dowding Industries has brought innovative advanced manufacturing techniques for wind turbines and blades to the region with a $13 million investment and 100 new jobs.
- Symmetry Medical, manufacturer of orthopedic implants and instruments, has launched a $15 million expansion that will bring 390 new jobs to the region.
- Sparrow Health System is the region’s largest employer with 7,500 Caregivers, 2,000 volunteers, and approximately 900 physicians on medical staff. Annually, Sparrow supports our local communities with more than $80 million in community benefit, charity and uncompensated care.
